HERE YOU CAN SEE HOW THE SNACK BAR CAME TO LIFE
Early april 2007 : So here the birth of my latest project:The Snackbar. And you are all able to follow this from the very beginning. My own Bob the Builder( = Marcel) first created the house which I floored with selfmade tiles. So, real ceramics. click a picture to enlarge it in a new window.
I won't make a phot-carrousel before I'm finished, so you have to close each window.
Sorry enough, I'm not able to say anything about the furniture, because I don't have a clue about what to put where yet. You'll find out soon enough.
Have fun and feel free to "borrow".

Well, two weeks further down the road. Marcel created new stairs, the storage (& toilet) room already look like something, and some furniture is already lying around. My cats (all four of them) also like this new house. They come to help me all the time, and every cat-owner knows exactly what "helping" means.......
And something special: the drinks-cabinet. I'm very content with it. Cutting all those little cans from a round piece of wood, gluing tiny labels to them, creating the milkcartons...........Oh well, another selfmade product.
It's early May now and I've deceided to spend some grout on my floor. Looks much better this way. At the same time you can catch a first glimp of the interior. Which, by the way, will most certainly change at least a few hundred times before I'm happy with it.
Another great "help"......
I used Fimo to make the first snacks. At the moment this shot they'd just left the oven. The next picture shows how that looks on plates. Of course, I'll need lots more.
A snackbar isn't a snackbar without a stove. With the fries and egg as you already saw above.
Right, it's the end of May and I made good progress. About time for some new pics then. First an overview. As you can see I added a lot of stuff. The figure in the middle is nameless. He helps me to keep things in perspective so he always moves along to the next project with me.
Remember our great black help? Here she's testing the attic for pussy-friendlyness. To get there she crawled in through the opening in the roof.
Two detailed photo's of the counter and the help-yourself-corner. Just like the real thing, right?
Below you'll find the last picture (for now) of the snackbar's interior. I know, I haven't finished it yet, but from now on it only needs some more decoration. Now I wanna start with the restaurant-part. I'll keep working on the snackbar in the meanwhile.
The picture shows that I covered the house with a transparent acryl cover. I glued the windows, door and some bricks onto it. There will be stools in front of the window, but I have to make those first. So don't worry, new pics will still be coming.
Meanwhile it's nearly half june and the sitting-area is growing slowly but surely, as tou can see below. The seats of the chairs are made of real leather. By the way, gluing those things together doesn't make you happy............
And yes, that's a pinballmachine in the back there! Created by Marcel (that show-off, remember him?). But it looks like the real thing, dont you think.
Because the lights in the machine are flickering, we made a little film of it. Not high quality, but we added the right sound to it so it looks real enough!
Click here to see or download the "movie" (± 20 secs.)
Above you can what you need in order to create a chair. Not much, that is. On the right a more detailed photo. And below you can see me in full action.....
In between I'm making good progress with the sitting area. Because the snackbar is in the country we need a "country-styled" table. So the tables are dressed accordingly.
At this moment the restauration looks like this. With a new floor, that's correct! This is also the last shot of this area. I know, it's not finished yet, but I want to hold some things back until the final presentation.
Early july 2007: a shot in between. The second floor now has a little attic. Not fully mounted yet, otherwise I can't reach it anymore. I have plans to fill that attic to the ceiling!
AHalf of August already! High time for some new pctures. Below you'll find the gardenshed, located outside on the right, so hardly visible on the pics. In fact it's the perfect hiding-place for the transformer. That's a big one, because it has to feed over 60 bulbs. The roof is removable so I can always access the transformer.
Nice detail: the gutter is made of real zinc. Moulded by Thom, finished by little me. Thanks, Thom!
A pic of the attic. The trapdoor really opens with the cord on the left.
Meanwhile the second floor looks as on the pic below. I'm very busy filling the shelves with books. Bookcovers are downloadable from nearly anywhere on the web, but you can also scan a book from your own book-shelves.
Making books is quite easy. Cut out the cover, fold it and glue it to a piece (or pieces) of carton. Cut that out too and glue it tight close.
The result should look something like this.
Well, I'm off again to work on the snackbar, but first an overview. Now you are completely updated again!
